Objectives

The project report is based on feedback from participants, observations from team leaders, and project managers from Stichting EUnation and Youth Center of Georgia. The opinions and experiences shared by everyone involved played an important role in shaping the final report. The project, "Active Youth – Better Environment," aimed to raise awareness about environmental issues among young people. We wanted to inspire participants to adopt sustainable practices and take responsibility for the environment in their daily lives. By bringing together youth from the Netherlands and Georgia, we sought to foster intercultural exchange and collaboration on environmental initiatives. With this project, we aimed to: To raise Environmental Awareness - We aimed to educate participants about global and local environmental issues. Through workshops and activities, participants learned about recycling, reducing waste, and protecting natural resources. To Promote Sustainable Practices - The project encouraged participants to adopt eco-friendly habits. Activities included upcycling workshops, zero-waste lifestyle sessions, and environmental campaigns. To Foster Intercultural Exchange - By cultural evenings and the activities such as breaking stereotypes, we promoted cultural understanding. Participants shared their unique perspectives and learned from each other's experiences. To Empower Youth to Take Action - We wanted to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to become environmental advocates. Through leadership activities and team-building exercises, participants gained the confidence to lead their own initiatives. To Enhance Personal Development - The project aimed to improve participants' social, communication, and organizational skills. Activities included public speaking, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. The topic and the project itself were very important for both organizations as it was our first cooperation and very important topic. Stichting EUnation (Netherlands): As the project manager for Stichting EUnation, I found this topic crucial because environmental sustainability is a key focus for our organization. We believe in educating the youth about the importance of protecting our environment to ensure a better future. This project allowed us to engage young people in meaningful activities that highlighted the importance of sustainability. In general, we can say that the project provided an excellent platform for us to collaborate with an international partner, enhancing our intercultural understanding and exchange. It was important for us to show that environmental issues are a global concern and require a united effort. Through this project, we aimed to inspire our participants to become active citizens and environmental advocates. Youth Center of Georgia (Georgia): At Youth Center of Georgia, the topic of environmental sustainability responds to our mission to promote a healthy and inclusive society. We see the environment as an important aspect of community health and well-being. Engaging youth in environmental activities helps promote a sense of responsibility and awareness that is vital for their development. Moreover, This project was a great opportunity to work closely with Stichting EUnation and to learn from their experiences and approaches. It reinforced our commitment to fostering environmental awareness and action among young people in Georgia. We want to mention that the topic was very important for our target group, which consisted of young people aged 13-17 from both the Netherlands and Georgia. At this age, fostering an understanding of environmental issues can have a lasting impact. Participants were not only educated about the importance of sustainability but also empowered to take practical steps in their own lives. In general, addressing environmental issues is important for the well-being of our planet. Young people are the future leaders and decision-makers; equipping them with the knowledge and skills to address these challenges is essential. This project aimed to create a generation of environmentally conscious individuals who can contribute to a more sustainable world.
