Objectives

The Covid-19 pandemic was not only a pandemic that had an effect on the health of some that got the virus. It also had an effect on our mental and physical health. Therefore, we organized a Youth Exchange in which we not only addressed health issues but also promoted a healthy lifestyle, but it was done slightly differently. We went back in time and used a simulation based on gladiator games. Also, we discussed what is a healthy lifestyle and how we can adapt ancient healthy lifestyles and eating habits into now. Also, the participants l prepared a final event and show that took place in the Roman Arena in Plovdiv. The result was astonishing a glimpse of which is captured in the following video: https://vimeo.com/743543599 . The project was a combination of health lifestyle, mental health physical activities and culture, which made it very interesting and dynamic for the participants. The 9 day YE was held in Pamporovo & Plovdiv in Bulgaria. . In total 40 participants (4 + 1 GL) from 8 countries: Bulgaria, Curacao, Estonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine & the Netherlands took part in this exchange. The group was divided in following 5 groups of gladiators: Each group came up with their culture, customs & sport activities which they did with others and in the end also performws in the roman arena . The main objectives were - to discover and promote principles of a healthy lifestyle (grassroots sport), eating behaviour, daily schedule); - to prevent sedentary behaviour; - to understand a long-term perspective of the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle and how this influences the whole nation; - to help participants to acquire skills and attitudes needed to live healthily and the motivation to use them after this YE; - to coordinate and work constructively with others, overcoming cultural and language barriers, to achieve common goals; - to promote the accessibility of the Erasmus + Programme for young people with fewer opportunities.
