The school's main objective is that all students should complete and pass upper secondary school, and internationalization as a method is a means of action that we have wanted to focus on to achieve this objective. In this project, we have had 4 objectives linked to the school's main objective with a program related to the program subjects the students have chosen at school and the interdisciplinary theme Sustainable Development which is one of the focus areas for Erasmus+. The project objectives have been: 1. The students should gain an increased understanding of and interest in other European cultures 2. The students should develop their communication skills and improve their oral language skills in English 3. The students should experience increased school motivation 4. The students should learn more about sustainability challenges and how to work with these challenges using entrepreneurial methods.
Nøtterøy Secondary School has 450 students in School Education and approx. 150 students studying health care. In School Education, you can choose subjects in science, language, social studies and economics. These programs open the door to studies at universities and colleges. Our students in the School Education program are aged 16-19 and have different ethnic, cultural and religious background, although the majority of students are ethnically Norwegian. The background for the project was, after the Covid pandemic, a desire to give students the opportunity to develop, increase their school motivation and complete and pass school through international experience. In this project, we have focused on students attending subjects in social studies and entrepreneurship and marketing in particular. We have collaborated with schools in Lithuania, Italy and Austria that also focus on entrepreneurship, marketing and sustainable development, and the themes of the mobilities have been both cultural understanding, language training, learning about sustainable development and entrepreneurship in the countries we have visited.
