The goal of the project between the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies at UiO and the Autonmous Beinto Juarez University (UABJO), Mexico, has been to facilitate exchange with students and scholars from the Global South and to promote research by junior and senior scholars on the challenges and opportunities of multilingualism in the Global North and South. Drawing on perspectives from psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and applied linguistics, students and researchers in this project have examined pressing international challenges, including barriers and strategies of democratic participation in multilingual contexts; inclusive multilingual education; and communication strategies for government agencies in multilingual countries. The project has consisted of scholarly exchange between the Autonmous Beinto Juarez University (UABJO), Mexico, and the MA in Multilingualism, University of Oslo (UiO), including both student and staff mobility.
