NTNU finds the KA171 to be a highly relevant source of support for strengthening international collaboration with countries and HEIs outside the EU. The project aimed to increase student mobility, providing both incoming and outgoing students with valuable international experience and intercultural competence. It also sought to support outgoing staff mobility, helping to build stronger networks, bring valuable academic perspectives, and challenge and enhance existing academic approaches. Unfortunately, NTNU was unable to welcome staff members from partner HEIs within this project due to Norwegian tax regulations, which present a major barrier for incoming staff mobility. Despite efforts to raise this issue at both local and national levels, no solutions had been found by the time NTNU applied for the KA171 grant in 2022. The program also serves as an important funding source for our partners outside the EU, supporting their goals of increased internationalization. The aim was to bring fresh perspectives, both academically and culturally, and enabling our international partners to further develop their educational and research activities through mobility exchanges and cross-border collaboration.
