Our primary objective in implementing this Erasmus+ project was to strengthen the social and environmental responsibility of secondary school students across Norway, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Poland. We aimed to enhance collaboration among the four partner schools and reinforce alignment with the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme’s mission, which seeks to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and compassionate young people. By connecting our students across borders, we aspired to nurture intercultural understanding and respect, equipping them to contribute to a more peaceful and sustainable world through the collaborative experiences and activities of this two-year project.
Our “Think Globally, Act Locally” Erasmus+ project was created in response to shared goals among our partner schools in Norway, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Poland. The project was designed to address the need for increased social responsibility, environmental awareness, and enriched teaching methods aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) mission. Firstly, there was a need to foster empathy and inclusion, especially with local minority groups. By collaborating with local NGOs, we aimed to strengthen students’ social skills and awareness across different levels. Secondly, climate change require proactive education; this project aimed to equip students with the knowledge and practices for sustainable living and environmental protection. Finally, we aimed to motivate teachers by developing innovative approaches for TOK and CAS, enhancing their ability to teach social and environmental responsibility. This project allowed us to involve the broader school community in international exchanges, thereby fostering a truly global perspective in students and staff beyond the IB program.
