Hidden Diamonds brings together women with a migration background who, despite obstacles, have managed to become politically active or who are successful professionally or culturally. They serve as a positive example for gender equality and inclusion in the local communities and as role models for other young women with a migration background. Hi engage them in empowering these young women, providing them with self-esteem, self-efficacy and knowledge about political contexts in the EU and career opportunities. In this way, positive role models are created for young women with a migration background. Within the framework of the project, these young women receive concrete starting points for their own civil society or political commitment and experience themselves as self-efficacious as a result. Knowledge about political structures and processes within the EU is conveyed in order to strengthen their trust in politics and democracy
With the project, we wanted to network successful women with a migration background and encouraged them to act as role models for young women with a migration background (="hidden diamonds"). In this way, the social participation opportunities of young women with a migration background are promoted and they are encouraged to stand up for their own interests. With the help of the project, young women developed starting points for their own political or civil society engagement and, as a result, training and career ideas. In this way we wanted to promote inclusion, diversity and equality. Adressed needs: Women with a migration background are hardly represented in politics, public service, the media and in leadership positions in working life and thus do not serve as role models for young women with culturally diverse backgrounds. There are many professional fields, and even more socio-political engagement, that they do not even consider for themselves. Furthermore, the proportion of women with an immigrant background who have not completed high school is still significantly lower in the three countries than that of women without an immigrant background.
