In this project we aimed to achieve: - Knowledge exchange between the institutions - Interdisciplinary collaboration between the partners - Include digital tools into both teaching and the relevant industry - Increase our competence regarding important topics related to climate change - Ensure that the students have the skills needed to make the building industry greener in the future.
We applied for the project because this type of project provides a good opportunity to learn from each other, establish collaborations, and to provide the students with improved teaching practices and teaching materials. We wished to address the challenges the building industry faces with regard to reducing its climate impact. Since students are the future actors in the building industry, providing the students with the relevant knowledge and skills is essential for achieving a greener future. In order to provide the students with relevant tools for this, a combination of BIM (building information modelling) with LCA (life cycle assessment) was utilized. BIM is considered as a fundamental tool for green certification of buildings, while LCA is becoming a necessary skill for engineering students to quantify environmental impact. This is necessary to achieve the green transition and for taxonomy reporting.
