Mind Your Eating project very relevant topic and aim referring to modern world challenges over young people and every day life in Europe. Our project has been addressed for participants who want to learn ways to prevent and combat obesity and the negative effects generated by it: low self-esteem, low energy, poor health and their causes: sedentarism, quality low food, food excesses and low quality of education in this area. Across Europe youngsters tend to indulge into bad eating behaviours through emotional and mindless eating, not fully aware of their needs or feelings, but also by consuming low quality food and higher quantity than needed. Our project brought 40 participants (8+2 leaders) from 4 different programme countries: Norway, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania (excluding Lithuania and Turkey due to the complications in project preparation stage) to make them aware that through eating locally, the quality of food is higher and also has a smaller ecological footprint. The project goal has been achieved due to the following objectives: 1) To promote an active lifestyle for the youngsters through: - Identifying and increasing the motivation for doing physical activity - Outdoor and face to face activities by experiencing first hand benefits of doing sports, moving your body freely and engaging the young people into the learning process 2) To support a healthy diet through the consumption of healthy and high quality foods through: - Introducing the participants to the slow food movement by cooking together and creating conditions for learning basic healthy cooking methods - Bringing awareness to the high nutritional value foods and how to create a balanced eating pattern - Consuming seasonal foods and purchasing and picking our vegetables by visiting a local farm 3) To encourage the good management of the food/ efficient food management consumption through: - Practicing mindfulness, a powerful tool for being aware of your physical and emotional needs - Bringing awareness to sustainability and the pollution factor of wasting food by facilitating a conferees press with an expert in this area 4) To encourage/support youngsters to inform themselves from valid scientific sources when it comes to nutrition and healthy lifestyle trough: - Identifying scientific proven facts vs pseudoscience. Project results (social media and videos, Instagram page, local actions and meetings as follow-up) and project relevant information were disseminated through various information sources among Norway youth NGOs, partner organization members and local young people as our participants very motivated and pass the experience and motivation to other young people in our project partner countries. The European Youth Goals is to promote Mental Health & Wellbeing as well as Sustainable Green Europe as the European Youth Goals was the starting point of this project and after the implementation we have contributed healthy food choices, physical activity and healthy use of digital tools and lastly food waste and local food consumption awareness on ecological footprint was the main learning point for all stakeholders of this project.
