Objectives

The DANCE WITH ME project was developed by ECCO in collaboration with partner organizations from Norway, Reunion (France), and Turkey. The selection process for these partners involved several steps to ensure the project's success. Each partner brought valuable experiences and competencies to the project, contributing to its overall success. the contributions and competencies that each partner brought to the project: 1. ECCO (NORWAY): • ECCO initiated the project and was responsible for its development and coordination. • They had experience in organizing youth exchanges and training courses in their own community, which provided valuable insights into the logistical and practical aspects of such activities. • ECCO had a track record of sending young people from their community to international exchanges and training courses, demonstrating their experience in exchange activities. • The designated resource persons from ECCO had expertise in managing youth projects and had served as project managers for previous initiatives. • ECCO identified the specific needs and objectives of the project, such as raising awareness about the importance of physical activity and combating sedentarism in their local community. • added value to the project by helping to develop a new area of activity for an informal group. This group focused on addressing the issue of sedentarism through local events and the dissemination of results, thereby gaining more visibility in Bremanger (Vestlandet), a small community. 2. Reunion (France): • Reunion involved local volunteers from their hometown as participants in the exchange, providing them with international experience and a unique learning opportunity. • They developed a partnership with a local sports equipment company, contributing to the local awareness campaign. • Reunion conducted a comprehensive analysis in their community to understand the current level of physical activity among young people, gather community members' opinions, and identify what changes were needed. This analysis contributed to the project's local action plans for community events. 3. Turkey: • Turkey's unique contribution was related to the proximity of young Kurdish/Turkish people from Diyarbakir to young people from immigrant families. This diverse representation was part of the national group for activities, adding a multicultural dimension to the project. • Turkey conducted an analysis in their community, helping to understand the involvement of young people in physical activities and the community's perception of the problem of sedentarism. The participants in the DANCE WITH ME project were selected based on specific criteria and represented a diverse group in terms of age, gender, educational background, employment status, cultural identity, and social experiences. Participant Background and Profile: Age: The participants were between 15 and 30years old, covering a broad age range to engage both youth and young adults. Gender: The project achieved an equal gender ratio, meaning that both boys and girls were actively encouraged to participate. Educational Background: The participants had varied educational backgrounds. Most were in the final years of high school or pursuing higher education at the university or college level. Some participants had already completed their studies, while others were in transition phases. Employment Status: The majority of participants were not in full-time employment because they were primarily focused on their studies. However, a portion of participants engaged in the labor market, often in part-time or freelance roles. Some participants were categorized as NEET (not in education, employment, or training). Cultural Identity: The project created diverse national groups, with each group typically representing the majority culture of their respective country. Additionally, there were participants from various ethnic minorities, such as Kurds from Turkey, individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds in REUNION, and immigrants from Norway, adding a rich multicultural dimension to the project. Social Framework: Participants came from different social backgrounds. Some had faced challenging social situations, including experiences of discrimination based on ethnic or religious criteria and displacement due to internal conflicts. The selection process for participants involved using a standard form template developed by the international project team. This template was used by all partner organizations and widely promoted within their communities and volunteer networks. The form was available in both electronic and printed formats to accommodate diverse preferences.
