Objectives

We wanted to organize this project with young people because we believed that especially they were the ones who really didn’t know so much about it. According to our international project experiences, we realized that younger people have less information about gender issue than older ones. With this project, we handled some ways to learn and educate ourselves more about the sexism and gender-based discrimination in our society, whilst raising awareness and building up positive attitudes regarding this delicate issue. With this youth exchange we wanted to engage into a dialogue with young people about gender equality and gender roles in their social environments. We wanted to challenge our young people with different perceptions of the role of man & woman in our current societies and in the past. As young people from different parts of European countries, we have planned this project in order to meet together, discuss and understand those subjects and try to create simple social media tools in order to make young people understand these issues easily. Young people are confused with so many concepts (e.g. sexism, patriarchy, feminism, queer, LGBTQ+) and we believe that is such an important need to clarify and simplify those issues by young people and for young people. The topic was addressed from a constructive criticism, focusing on the role that we, the younger generations, should play. We worked the subject through diverse dynamics making use of resources such as videos, posters, graphics, statistics etc. Our project is planned by young people as using of non-formal educational methods in order to achieve the following specific objectives: • To bring young people from different gender, ethnic and cultural backgrounds together and to create a space for an open dialogue, • To create awareness about the reality of our societies and the reality of each country regarding gender-based situation and not only understanding of this issue but also to be more conscious about it, • To learn some important definitions and uncover sexist behaviors, analyze them and work them out, • To gain and develop critical thought and strengthen everybody’s personalities by working with tolerance, respect, and teamwork ability, • To foster their feeling of sharing common values, • To raise their sense of belonging to Europe and become more about European values, • To be aware of importance of gender and cultural diversity in local, regional and international level and to develop skills and attitudes to motivate young people, • To identify and share similarities and differences in practices used in different countries with the same issues which young people face, • To promote active participation of young people by using non-formal methods, • To develop their skills in creating their own media content and creating videos regarding to increasing awareness about this issue, • To offer the opportunity to meet partner groups and develop concrete ideas for future projects focusing on gender identity, cultural diversity and active participation of young people in order to prevent gender discrimination, exclusion of young people, • To support young people to increase their knowledge about Erasmus+ Program and youth exchange projects in order to develop new projects in the future, • To create videos as a part of the campaign (we will have experienced participants) and use social media very actively in order to reach as many as people possible for outcomes of our project and for the visibility of Erasmus+ Program.
