There have been different developments in our world that causes increased pressure on the natural environment resulting from human activities that pollute the air, water, and land. Nearly the entire international community now accepts that these activities and their products are responsible for changes in global weather patterns that endanger biodiversity, increase the probability of various diseases, and natural disasters, and may eventually threaten our very existence. This type of development is not sustainable and threatens our and the next generations’ healthy living. Reflecting on the growing issues of ecology, its actuality in Europe, as well as the whole planet, led us to an idea of the youth exchange - “Into the field”. Another important goal of creating this project was that we often encounter situations where very few activities are planned and carried out for vulnerable people and people with disabilities, especially in our city-Volda. Of course, some institutions are designed to support them, however, they pay less attention to their hobbies and interests. With all these facts in mind, we wanted to help a group of vulnerable people and people with disabilities to arouse their interests and hobbies and create leisure activities with them. The coordinator of Re:Act Volda has his farm - "Rysta Gard" and wants to turn this farm into a place where young people, including people with disabilities, can come in and engage in handicrafts. This farm will be a place for them to be able to get acquainted with nature, pets, and handicrafts, at the same time get to know and make friends with other young people. By the implementation of the project “Into The Field” we brought a lot of benefits to the young people of Volda and during this youth exchange, we helped of creating this cozy place on the farm. Hence, the project aimed to promote the idea of environmental protection by equipping its participants with specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes and encouraging them to be actors in combatting the environmental challenges in their communities. The method that we used during the youth exchange was experiential learning & outdoor education, which brought them close to nature, allowed them to see some of the direct impacts of their and other people's acts towards the environment and that also allowed them to try and accept some of the "green" practices. The Youth Exchange set the following objectives: - To develop the participant's understanding of the importance of ecological sustainability; - To reflect on the environmental situation in different parts of Europe and share the good practices for supporting each- other awareness of “Green techniques.” - To introduce some ways of solution, such as creative recycling, composting, etc. - To involve youngsters in designing concrete steps, action-plans to make a positive impact on the environmental state in their local communities. - To promote outdoor education as an efficient and inclusive tool while working on environmental issues. - To promote a healthy lifestyle by involving the participants in outdoor educational activities implemented in nature; - To build and create a place for vulnerable people and people with disabilities; - To promote intercultural dialogue between young people from different backgrounds; - To promote Erasmus + youth and its given opportunities.
