Objectives

The "E-Quality" project was launched by DRH (Norway) in collaboration with partners with the goal of addressing gender equality, discrimination, and social inclusion through outdoor education. The project aimed to achieve several specific objectives: - Engage in Discourse about Gender Equality: Through the youth exchange, the project aimed to facilitate meaningful discussions among young people about gender equality and gender roles within their societal context. The exchange provided a platform for participants to share perspectives and insights on these topics. - Present Alternative Perspectives: The project sought to challenge the traditional notions of gender roles by exposing young people to alternative perspectives. By exploring historical and present contexts, the project aimed to broaden participants' understanding of the roles of men and women in Europe. - Utilize Outdoor Education for Development: Recognizing the potency of outdoor education, the project integrated non-formal education methods in outdoor settings. Trekking and group activities were utilized as powerful tools for individual and group growth, allowing participants to explore sensitive themes in an open and conducive environment. - Create Empathy through Shared Experience: By simulating the challenges that refugees face during their journeys to find peace in Europe, the project aimed to create empathy and understanding among participants. This comparison was intended to help participants think critically about the current situation and foster a sense of responsibility. - Inspire Critical Thinking and Active Citizenship: The project aimed to inspire young people to critically examine existing social norms and to consider alternatives that promote gender equality. By doing so, participants were encouraged to become active citizens who challenge norms and work towards positive change in their communities. - Link to EU Values and Gender Equality: The project aligned with the fundamental values of the EU, particularly the concept of gender equality. The goal was to empower participants to recognize their role in upholding these values and to translate them into real-life actions that promote equality and inclusivity. Empower Participants for Change: The project aimed to empower participants to recognize their capacity to influence change. By encouraging them to question and challenge societal norms, the project sought to instill a sense of duty and commitment to creating a more equitable world. - Promote Active Citizenship: The project emphasized that active citizenship involves taking action based on one's beliefs. Participants were encouraged to lead by example, shaping their communities to be more inclusive and gender-sensitive through their actions and interactions. Overall, the "E-Quality" project aimed to create a transformative experience for participants, fostering critical thinking, empathy, and a commitment to challenging established norms in pursuit of a more equitable society. Through outdoor education and meaningful dialogue, the project aimed to equip young people with the tools and mindset needed to actively contribute to positive change within their communities and beyond.
