Objectives

By implementing the project, we wanted to create conditions in our school for European cooperation, which will have a motivating effect on the entire school community. Improving teachers' linguistic and methodological competences, enabling them to gain experience in an international environment and establishing contacts - in the long run, is expected to lead to positive effects in everyday school practice. We want our teachers to use modern technologies in lessons, freely use foreign-language materials, share their experience without any complexes, carry out cooperation projects in English, and provide support to immigrant students. This attitude will have a motivating effect on other employees and our students, who are also affected by the effects of the project.

Background

The "We learn for our students" project was addressed to employees of the General Education School Complex No. 9 in Krakow and aimed to improve their linguistic and digital competences. The participants learned a foreign language on an online platform for nine months, and then took part in a seven-day course abroad, during which they improved their skills with a group of teachers from various European countries. Thirteen people improved their English language skills, and two - Italian. One teacher acquired the ability to use digital tools in the teaching process. The project was summarized by intra-school events - a training conference, open lessons, meetings of subject teams and sharing of the materials in the school domain. In this way, we are preparing to implement the subsequent assumptions of the European School Development Plan. Our facility is a complex of general schools consisting of a high school and a primary school for children and youth aged 7 to 19. We have extensive experience in working with integration classes; the high school offers attractive profiles: aviation, tourism, media; and its strength is the development of student self-government.
