Teaching and learning of foreign languagesInformation and communication technologies (ICT)Green skills

Objectives

Through the implementation of the project, we wanted the teachers of our school to improve their language competences so that their language level was A2+/B1. We wanted them to communicate more easily and freely with people from abroad, to have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge during training in English, and to overcome the language barrier. Our goal was for the teachers to adapt to a foreign-language educational environment, establish new contacts with teachers from other European schools, and engage in active participation in the field of European cooperation. We wanted the teachers to broaden their existing knowledge and gain new information on innovative teaching methods and the use of digital tools in the educational process. This allowed them to make lessons more attractive, activate students and encourage them to engage in new initiatives. We wanted both teachers and students to learn about effective ways of caring for the natural environment in everyday life and to observe pro-ecological attitudes in countries that are role models in this field. This resulted in the development of new attitudes and awareness of the seriousness of the problem of environmental pollution in the world.

Background

Our Erasmus+ KA122 -SCH project is titled "Foreign languages as a window to a green Europe", which reflects the idea that constantly guided us while working on the project. Ecology, protection of green areas, learning foreign languages, especially English, and acquiring new knowledge of digital tools are the main goals that have accompanied us all along and will remain with us in the future. We involved the students and teachers in the project, who participated in activities such as group mobility for school students, job shadowing and training courses, which allowed them to acquire knowledge of the above issues. Our school is a four-year general secondary school with 28 classes. The school has 834 students aged 15-19. The class profiles are: film, media, biological and chemical, social, psychological, medical, polytechnic. The humane profiles are thriving and are most frequently chosen by students. Students willingly develop their talents by presenting them in the school musical group MickArt Group and the school theatre; they take part in charity campaigns, e.g. Caritas, Polish Red Cross and European projects, e.g. E+, eTw, Power, European Solidarity Corps. The school employs 70 employees, including 58 teachers.
