Objectives

The implementation of the project was the answer to the identified needs of ZSBD and was to provide students with the opportunity to take part in high quality trainings and to let them obtain general development. The project was meant to raise the school prestige in local area and to promote vocational education in the trades offered by our school. There were 3 main purposes – increasing professional competences of 30 students of all 8 vocations trained in our technical school, improving their language, intercultural, personal and ecological competences and also raising educational potential of our school. The project implementation intended to contribute to the professional and personal development of 30 participants, to the increase of their self-esteem and motivation for further development as well as the increase of the chances to find attractive employment. The following were the benefits for our school: - good example and inspiration for younger students, - new training places in Swedish companies for next students of ZSBD in following years, - new teaching aids for vocational subjects, - teaching curricula modified by ecological contents, - implementing of ecological solutions in the current school functioning.

Background

Zespół Szkół Budowlano-Drzewnych im. Armii Krajowej in Żywiec (ZSBD) is the oldest and the second largest secondary school in Żywiec District. At present, there are over 900 students aged 15-20 attending secondary technical and basic vocational school. Majority of our students come from families of low social status living in rural areas of our District, they often lack good manners, they are full of insecurities and low motivation for self-improvement. All trades trained in ZSBD are needed on the labour market. In our area, ZSBD has no access to the latest technologies and trade innovations and local employers are not able to offer vocational trainings of high quality standards. This given project was the second VET mobility project implemented by ZSBD. 30 students representing all vocations trained in our technical school participated in it - Construction, Land Surveying, Sanitary Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Fashion Design, Hairdressing, Graphic Design and Photography and Multimedia. The number of vocational groups was proportional to the total number of students in a given trade at school. Teachers of vocational subjects (3 persons) and English Language (1) were the supervisors of the mobility group.
