Background

We are a large, multi-vocational school offering education at the technical school (T) and vocational school (SB) levels since 1955. In addition to vocational subjects, T students are provided with mandatory work placements. Since 2013, we have organised foreign internships in Germany, Northern Ireland, and Spain. 30 students participated in the project, pursuing professions as hotel service staff (1 person), automotive vehicle technicians (6 people), nutrition and catering services technicians (13 people), construction finishing work fitters (1 person), and forwarding technicians (9 people). From 07.03.2023 to 03.04.2023, they completed a 4-week internship with employers in the province of Malaga (Andalusia), enhancing their vocational, language, and personal skills. Prior to departure, they participated in preparatory classes for the internship, and during the internship, they engaged in a cultural programme (exploring Spanish culture, sightseeing, and spending leisure time together). Three teachers from our school supervised the students' safety and the progress of the internship. All participants were provided with free transport, accommodation, meals, insurance, and pocket money.
