Objectives

Within the Project we aimed at rising the cross-culture awareness of our pupils. The Vocational School students are in worse situation than the Technical College students in this respect, their possibilities of improving cross-culture competences are definitely smaller. This i salso caused by the educational proces, due to which Technical College involves only classroom learning, while the Vocational School students are obliged to work during summer and winter holidays as their employers require. What is more, beside classroom lessons at school they spend two or three week days (depending on the form) in their workplaces. Such large involvement in work makes taking advantage of cultural goods as well as rising cross-cultural awareness much harder to them. During the mobilities, their will of broadening culture horizons was clearly visible. Another aim of the Project was improving professional competences and upgrading qualifications. Thanks to the Project implementation, young people have gained new new professional experience, they saw work specificity in a foreign country and different human relationships. The joint journey, working, spending time together in Spain were really important elements integrating students of both schools

Background

Zespol Szkol Mechaniczno-Elektrycznych includes a Technical College and Basic Vocational School. At the Technical College students are being educated in such professions as: electronics technician, electrical technician, graphics and digital printing technician, mechanic technician and railway transport technician whereas at the Vocational School – electrician, iron-worker, cutting machine operator and car mechanic. During the project implementation we we wanted the students of both schools being trained in the same or similar professions to take part in mobilities together. The Project’s aim was to raise qualifications and improve skills as well as to equalize the noticeable differences in both personal and professional confidence ans self-esteem levels between the students of the two schools. During the aprenticeship in a foreign country the participants became familiar with new innovative techniques, modern equipment different from those known to them from their everyday practice in Poland, and the methods of using them at work.
