Objectives

Through the project we wanted to make it easier for participants to find a suitable placement and to acquire new professional, linguistic and cultural competences. A vocational traineeship is one of the prerequisites for completing a vocational training course and doing it abroad makes the participants' CV more attractive in the eyes of employers and helps participants to find a job or start their own business thanks to inspiration from foreign trends and increased openness to new challenges. Participation in projects of this kind inspires participants to broaden their professional, linguistic and cultural competences, and the effects of the placement are used further at school in the form of online materials for vocational and foreign language lessons. Such projects aimed at adult learners are also designed to promote lifelong learning. In addition to this, the implementation of foreign internships by the Centre for Lifelong Education plays an important role in encouraging the local community to join this school , which is the only vocational school for adults in the region offering the opportunity to participate in a foreign internship funded by the EU. Thanks to EU projects more and more people are applying to our school.

Background

The Lifelong Education Centre (short Centrum Kształcenia Ustawicznego, abbreviation: CKU) is a school offering adults the opportunity to acquire general and/or vocational education since 1978. A profession can be learned at the CKU in several Vocational Qualification Courses, which last 1.5 years or 2 years and end with a state examination. Since 2016, the school has been implementing EU co-funded projects in which students undertake work placements abroad. So far, we have organised internships in Italy and Portugal. In this project, we have sent trainees to Spain, to Seville, for the first time. This project is, among other things, a response to the continuing lack of apprenticeship places for adult learners. As part of this project, eight female representatives of the three professions of confectioner, baker and hairdresser completed a three-week work placement in Spain. An intermediary organisation, euroMind, based in Seville, experienced in this type of project (and others https://euromind.es/?lang=pl), was responsible for finding host organisations for our participants and providing logistical support and supervision for the participants in Spain.
