Objectives

The overarching goal of the project covered by agreement no. 2022-1-PL01-KA131-HED-000052423 was to enhance the level of internationalization at the Academy and strengthen the institution's position on the European and global stage. This plan was supported by initiatives such as continuously improving the service level for project participants, expanding the forms of support offered, increasing communication channels between participants and the university, closely monitoring the quality of partnerships, and attracting new, valuable institutions for collaboration. Additionally, the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk aims to increase the number of students, graduates, and staff participating in international activities and to provide its community members with opportunities to acquire new competencies and skills that address the social and economic challenges of the modern world. Other key project goals included tailoring the program to different groups of potential participants, including those with fewer opportunities, and supporting the digital transformation process by developing tools to enhance project management. In relation to staff mobilities, the Beneficiary set the following important objectives: - increasing staff activity and readiness to participate in various international projects, both within and outside the Erasmus+ program, - drawing inspiration from best practices observed in the institutions visited by staff to improve their own educational offerings and professional competencies, - boosting employee satisfaction, innovation, and creativity, which contribute to building the reputation of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk as an important center for artistic and design education on the international stage. Thanks to the involvement of Erasmus+ scholarship holders in the day-to-day operations of the Beneficiary’s institution, initiatives have emerged to expand the range of courses taught in English, including so-called open/guest studios, as well as adapting other communication channels—such as the website, visual identification of buildings, and legal documents regulating university operations—to the needs of non-Polish speakers. Another goal of the Beneficiary is to promote its own cultural achievements, as well as Poland's national heritage, by introducing international participants to the history of the city and the country, showcasing the accomplishments of Polish artists and designers in various academic disciplines, and promoting the Polish language through language courses. Moreover, teaching programs offered by international participants in STA-type mobilities are often developed in collaboration with local instructors, allowing for the creation of courses based on universal values, which strengthen the sense of European identity. The Academy has also undertaken efforts to increase the visibility of the Erasmus+ brand through promotional activities and dissemination of project results at the local, national, and international levels. An important objective of the project was also to meet or even exceed the quantitative targets regarding the number of mobilities completed and the effective utilization of the budget allocated to the Beneficiary, as well as to expand efforts aimed at integrating and involving participants in the Academy's activities at various stages of the mobility process. According to the Beneficiary, the Erasmus+ program also provides tools to assess the quality of partnerships, which allows the selection of institutions with the organizational and intellectual capacity to co-create additional projects beyond mobility activities. As a result, through participation in this project, the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk has had the opportunity to deepen strategic relationships, which could be leveraged in other ventures, such as creating joint educational offerings based on a dual degree program.
