Objectives

Through the implementation of the project "I'm commenting, not hating!" we wanted strengthen intercultural, linguistic, nodal competences, including empathy, communication, understanding attitudes and ways of behaving, digital competence and awareness of the use of modern forms of online communication of the participants. The project came about as a result of a grassroots initiative of the young people and dealt with hegemony on the Internet, how to counteract it and how to deal with it. The aim of the project was therefore to strengthen the competences of young people in the above-mentioned areas and to strengthen their feeling that they are capable individuals and, through joint and active implementation of project activities, can contribute to positive social change and broaden their own cognitive horizons. The main theme of the activities was to focus on the online reality and how contemporary young people function in the online space, how they are affected by the content they encounter on the Internet, how they can react in the case of cyber aggression and hate speech. The choice of topic allowed young people to achieve the objectives indicated above. Indeed, the online space is nowadays a parallel world to the real world for young people, in which they can increasingly become victims of hejt and cyberbullying or, on the other hand, consciously or not, they can hurt other Internet users with their behaviour. Online hegt and violence can significantly impinge on the quality of functioning of those affected, affect self-esteem and even generate suicidal thoughts. The objectives with regard to participants were therefore: to establish an international network of contacts, to acquire and expand knowledge concerning European countries, other cultures, values; to explore issues related to disinformation and manipulation online; to improve social, personal, interpersonal skills; to increase intercultural competences, including knotty ones (communication, empathy, understanding attitudes and ways of behaviour of people of other cultures, openness to difference, tolerance); to find common Polish-Lithuanian values; to explore issues of hegt and cyberbullying and to develop ways to counteract them; The aim of the project for the partner organisations was to strengthen their skills in international youth work, to improve the quality of their activities as a host and sending organisation. The aim was also to establish new cooperation, to learn how to respond optimally to the needs and expectations of the foreign partner. A very important aspiration for the partner organisations in the context of the implementation of this project was to develop in the field of youth work through the use of extracurricular forms of education; to establish and strengthen international cooperation, to increase knowledge on innovative working methods through the exchange of good practices between the Polish and Lithuanian partner, to increase skills in preparing and accounting for EU projects.
