Through the implementation of the project titled "International ju-jitsu - overcoming barriers and limitations", which came about as a result of a grassroots initiative of Polish-Czech youth, our organization aimed to enable participants, through participation in an extracurricular form of education, to strengthen their linguistic, intercultural, social, personal competencies through the implementation of activities related to the main theme. The main theme of the project was the martial art of ju-jitsu, a widely understood physical and sporting activity through which it is possible to shape character, strengthen the body and spirit, set goals, counteract social exclusion among young European citizens. From the perspective of the organization, the goal was to establish international cooperation with the Czech partner, to increase competence in the implementation of EU projects, to respond to the needs of the foreign partner by ZFP staff. The partner organizations created an opportunity for young people to implement the activities they had developed before the mobility, which allowed them to achieve positive social change - raising the subject of sports, ju-jitsu, a deeper approach to physical activity among young people, including in the context of pandemics, and marginalizing aspects of sports development in schools and youth institutions. Thanks to the implementation of the mobility in Poland, the project participants learned to manage their time more effectively, expanded their knowledge and practical skills in ju-jitsu, with a particular focus on Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The youth opened up to culturally different peers, strengthened attitudes of openness, tolerance, and learned how to reach out to groups at risk of social exclusion through ju-jitsu issues by implementing Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes among wards of local childcare centers. In the activity - due to the subject matter and the need for a professional approach to young people in jiu-jitsu techniques, a facilitator from the Czech group, who is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu trainer on a daily basis, participated. In addition, the leaders of both groups are active sports people who teach and train young people in various combat sports. The participants of the project were actively involved in all activities, developed a folder on ju-jitsu, in which they drew attention to the role of sports and movement in the lives of young people, pointed out how martial arts can positively affect human development. Mobility allowed participants to establish a dialogue about life in modern Europe, European values, learn about the culture, customs and traditions of Poland and the Czech Republic. The main objectives of the project relating to the participants were: - learning about the culture, traditions, customs, role of sports in the participating countries; - Increasing self-esteem, strengthening interpersonal, social, sports, language competencies; - strengthening the sense of a European citizen and developing attitudes of tolerance and openness; - motivating further development and use of extracurricular forms of education; - making international acquaintances, friendships, meeting interesting people; - creative approach to life and creativity in action; - finding common values; - strengthening one's own competence and awareness of the role of sports, physical activity, ju-jitsu in life, and pointing out to those around one the importance of these aspects, including those at risk of social exclusion. Thanks to the experience gained, young people gained the opportunity to further develop themselves athletically, personally, socially. After the mobility, the participants declared greater willingness and motivation to act, as well as to engage in social aspects, including through the implementation of classes, activities for children and young people excluded or at risk of social exclusion. ZFP and the Draculino Association gained knowledge about alternative forms of education, the organizations also improved their skills in implementing projects dedicated to youth. We learned to better respond to the needs and expectations of the foreign partner. Thanks to the implementation of the project, our organization has the competence to share knowledge in the implementation of youth projects, advise other organizations on how to implement such projects, encourage participation in Erasmus+, Youth Exchanges.
