Objectives

The project "Culinary journeys in the corral and cloud" implemented by the Centrum Edukacji i Pracy Młodzieży in Przemyśl together with the Youthfully Yours SK organization was aimed at increasing awareness in the field of production, processing and preparation of dishes from organic products, establishing intercultural dialogue, breaking language barriers, deepening knowledge about Polish and Slovak customs and traditions, promoting activity and civic attitudes among young people. As we indicated in the application, the genesis of this project was the desire to show the possibilities of production, processing and preparation of dishes from organic products. The quality of our food depends to a large extent on the way it is produced and the environmental conditions. Organic food is considered healthy food because of the way it is produced. Healthy food is produced without the use of chemicals and artificial fertilizers. Growth regulators, additives contained in animal feed and genetically modified plants are not used in the production of such food. Currently, organic food is the only way not to consume residues of chemicals and mineral fertilizers found in food products. Ecological products do not have a negative impact on the natural environment. Natural healthy products should be included in the menu of every person, regardless of gender, age and diet. Everyone should eat healthy, safe food and experience the beneficial effects of eating it. Particularly ecological, healthy food should be the basis of nutrition for children and teenagers, because a young organism is in a phase of rapid development and needs a large amount of vitamins and nutrients not contaminated with chemical substances. Through the implementation of our project, we wanted to establish an intercultural dialogue, explore knowledge among young people in the field of new cultures and foreign languages. Our participants learned about the history, culture and tradition of the partner country. They acquired practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of organic production and cultivation, their processing and preparation of dishes from organic products. The action was supposed to be an encouragement for young people to build a good atmosphere, security, trust and willingness to cooperate. The project contributed to the establishment of new contacts that can be continued by the participants and implemented the principles of inclusion and diversity. An important element of our activity was to promote activity and civic attitudes among young people. Youth participating in the project had the opportunity to meet representatives of non-governmental organizations and volunteers supporting various organizations, which influenced the shaping of the participants' attitudes and civic attitudes. Daily contacts and joint activities by young people contributed to establishing strong relations between the participants, overcame language and cultural barriers and was a good promotion of intercultural dialogue. During the activieties, young people compared and discussed the customs and traditions of their countries and looked for common features that connect them despite cultural differences. The time in which the young people spent together contributed to establishing cooperation and brought them closer together. Participants took part in language and history activieties. During these activieties, the customs and traditions of our countries were presented, and the participants expressed how they see the partner's country. Such activities are a good opportunity to get to know and promote the countries participating in the project. During the activities, participants prepared a film about their activities and a fanpage on a social networking site. As part of the project, we carried out activities in an ecological educational farm, the aim of which was to familiarize participants with traditional culinary dishes and methods of their preparation. Then, in the Arboretum, the participants took part in activities on the production and processing of organic products. We also participated in activities using modern technologies in the production and distribution of ecological products. The finale of the project were culinary classes, in which the young people had the task of making delicacies from regional cuisines of the partner country from organic products. Activities in the project were varied with integration, linguistic and historical games and plays. Producing, processing, preparing and consuming organic food is the best investment for the future, for us and our families, because by taking care of proper nutrition, we are aware that we are investing wisely in our health. The aim of the project was to stimulate the sense of initiative in young people.
