Objectives

The idea for the project was initiated by our supporters who recognized the need to address the issue of technology addiction on an international platform. Thanks to the partnerships we established, we collaborated within an international team of 40 individuals from five countries (Poland, Romania, Lithuania, Greece, and Italy), with the hope of bringing our idea to fruition. We aimed for each of our supporters to expand their knowledge about the aforementioned problem, to understand the dangers of excessive and thoughtless technology use, and to engage in self-reflection regarding their own actions and assess how this problem affected them and those around them. During the project, we organized numerous sessions focusing on the issue of technology addiction. Through non-formal education methods, we hoped to share knowledge and provide opportunities for personal development. We had the chance to present our knowledge, participate in simulations, act in drama-based activities, conduct Oxford-style debates, attempt to express our feelings through our own bodies, and engage in self-reflection. Through these activities, we aspired to broaden our horizons and have a greater influence on educating people in our communities. Our first opportunity was meeting with children and youth at a school in Szczecin, where we taught them offline games and physical activities to encourage them to engage in offline activities. This was also an opportunity for international dialogue and meetings with teaching staff, inspiring them to use our ideas in their work with youth. During the exchange, we also prepared a guide for offline fun, which included descriptions of all the games and activities we created during the project. This guide would allow those who did not have the opportunity to participate in our exchange or school event to use our ideas and organize such activities in their own environment. We aimed to promote the guide online so it could reach those interested in non-formal education, teachers, and parents. We also shared videos created during the exchange, which promoted taking breaks from technology and encouraged offline activities. With video materials, we hoped to reach a younger audience as it is an attractive form of communication. During the exchange, we had the opportunity to cooperate without using technology since we had previously collaborated solely remotely. It was important for us that our supporters experienced international exchange, worked in diverse teams, learned about new cultures and languages, and temporarily changed their place of residence to gain different experiences. Each of our partner organizations prioritizes the self-development of its members. Therefore, we aimed to provide as many opportunities as possible for self-improvement and learning new skills. We believed that this project not only addressed the problem we observed in our society (especially during the pandemic) but also allowed us to develop numerous individual skills and have a positive impact on our environment, especially on younger generations.
