The project “Active Youth Participation” aimed to encourage and empower youth to improve their social life and become active citizens. With this project, we tried to address one of the most important challenges of young people such as the lack of social life that affects people’s health and well-being. The idea of the project comes from the following background: Studies show that loneliness and social isolation are associated with higher risks for health problems such as heart disease, depression, and cognitive decline. Lack of social life also influences people's engagement in society and active participation. To achieve the aims, we set the following objectives: 1. To increase participants’ soft and social skills; 2. To help participants demonstrate their individualities in society; 3. To be aware of present social problems such as discrimination, radicalization, racism, and bullying; 4. To reduce prejudice, to promote tolerance and cooperation between people; 5. To motivate participants to have initiative and be involved in more social activities; 6. To give the participants handy tools to work with in the future and support the development of follow-up initiatives about youth social issues in their communities; 7. To promote active citizenship; 8. To promote Erasmus + opportunities. Through our project, we tried to draw attention to and aware youth of the importance of being actively involved in social life in their community. Valuing and pursuing social goals may contribute to well-being by boosting feelings of competence and integrity in society. Youth exchange “Active Youth Participation” helped the participants to develop positive behaviour towards society and to provide them with the necessary tools they can use to step forward from their comfort zone, and become leaders, active citizens, self-confident, and self-controlled.
