Objectives

Our project consisted of an exchange of young people from two countries - Poland and Romania. Through the active participation of the participants in activities based on non-formal education methods, it was to enable them to develop on a cultural, social and linguistic level. Through the use of the "design thinking" method - already at the stage of preparing the application - by "getting under the skin" of the user and identifying their needs and problems, we defined the aims of the project and the objectives we intended to achieve. Our aim was to develop strategies and forms of working with excluded people and communities - historically and currently: ethnic, national and sexual minorities. We dealt with the following contexts: migration of people, intermingling of cultures, political and worldview persecution, multilingualism, multiculturalism and interculturalism. We drew on the cultural heritage of the Carpathians, with particular emphasis on the Wallachian culture, which is still present not only in traditional folklore, but also in the everyday life of the inhabitants of the Carpathian countries - including, of course, Poland and Romania, i.e. the two poles between which migrations and flows of people, goods and cultures have taken place and continue to take place today. By focusing on the past as well as the present and we defined real problems and challenges. By multifaceted activation of all cognitive and personality-forming areas of the project participants, we worked with art and through creative activities. To achieve this, we referred to local artists and those mainly from the Carpathian region who have emigrated to other countries for various reasons. We wanted to develop intercultural competences, for which we used the analysis of literature, painting, dance and music from the Carpathian region. Through creative processing of cultural texts, we wanted to discover the contexts and motives for the actions of specific artists, to find universal European truths and values, which was the starting point for the participants' creative activities, taking into account their need to increase their knowledge and awareness of the culture of the countries of the European Union, their common roots, values, cultural and historical heritage. Thanks to the project we managed to create a space to support the personal, educational and life development of young people from Poland and Romania. It was also important for us to draw attention to the essence of lifelong learning, as well as to provide equal access to innovative and non-formal methods of education - not only to the participants of the project, but also to their communities of origin.
