Objectives

Through the implementation of the project, we achieved the planned goals related to building social bonds on many levels, based on the principles of inclusion, non-discrimination, respect for the dignity of every human being and diversity, building well-being resulting from social activity, changing the living space in such a way that it is it was friendly to people and facilitated everyday functioning even for people with various types of dysfunctions. The main activities of the project were focused on shaping intergenerational ties, i.e. between the generation of seniors and the generation of young people. In this way, we wanted to influence older and younger people to change their perception of the world, to try to overcome their mental stereotypes and to open up to cooperation. In addition, a group of young people realized what changes occur in the functioning of a person when he becomes a senior, opened up to cooperation with seniors and noticed that in old age you can function very well and enjoy life. For a week we tried to mark our presence in a new local environment of a small town as a new group for people living there, colorful and cheerful, young and willing to integrate with everyone, and we succeeded: we were welcomed, recognized and greeted in Hoczew and Lesko, and we established official contacts with various institutions (parish, farmers' wives association, local government, local enterprises, and above all the studio of the famous artist Zdzisław Pękalski) and unofficial ones (younger and older residents of Hoczew). Our week-long intergenerational meeting with the inhabitants of Hoczew had an international dimension, because the project also promoted diversity in terms of origin, appearance, to counteract exclusion and build a society open to the needs of others. The meetings of young people from different countries with the inhabitants of a small Bieszczady town were also aimed at developing the attitude of helping the other person and understanding their situation, and the observations made during the exchange took on the character of generalizations about the situation of the elderly in different countries, ways of eliminating barriers in access to various places and needs to increase the activity of older people and make their lives easier (well-being). Our presence was to encourage activity, to establish relationships, to open up to other people and to experience something new both by young people and by older residents of Hoczew. Happenings and meetings in open space played a huge role here, as well as other events, such as a joint disco and an intercultural meeting. Participants learned about the principles of accessibility as a new action to make life easier for people with various dysfunctions, to improve well-being. Trips to Krakow served this purpose, where exchange participants not only got to know the culture of our country, but also watched how the city is prepared to host the elderly and whether there are any barriers that make it difficult to visit or move around the city. Conclusions from the observations were collected in the form of a letter to the authorities of Krakow. During the exchange, the participants used Internet technology, using applications for various purposes: organizing tasks in the form of an educational project, preparing a street game, evaluating and publishing information about the project via social media. Taking care of a healthy lifestyle and developing ecological knowledge in the context of well-being was supported by Muczne's trip to the Bieszczady National Park, where nature observation was combined with physical activity.
