The "Does gender matter" youth exchange aimed at increasing participants' knowledge and awareness of gender equality and related problems. The project was designed as a space for young people to be active citizens. The exchange focused on gender equality which is one of the horizontal priorities of the EU, mentioned among others in the EU Gender Equality Strategy. During the project, gender issues and gender-based violence in Europe and the world were covered. Young people had a chance to understand how gender-related stereotypes and "norms" lead to exclusion and may result in violence. They acquired methods, skills and knowledge that could enrich their work and life. The activities were based on inspiration, different cultural approaches to gender, understanding the issue and reusing/recreating tools to introduce social change. The project aimed to contribute to the better position of women in European society and increase awareness of gender and human rights issues among young people. The goal of this project was to prepare young people to start a dialogue on gender equality in their communities. Thanks to the activities done during the exchange, it was possible to show the participants the importance of discussing those issues and not ignoring them. The project was designed to fulfil needs and give participants practical knowledge and tools. The projects aimed at: - give participants a clear understanding of gender inequalities problems and now know how to make an educational change in this topic - familiarise the participants with the issues of gender equality from a modern perspective and can compare the situation in different European countries - increase their knowledge and experience with gender and gain ideas of how to present them through education - make them aware of gender discrimination, gender exclusion and gender-based mobbing - empower them to become active volunteers and citizens in society - familiarise them with opportunities in the Erasmus+ and ESC programmes - empower participants to act locally to combat gender-based discrimination and inequalities - raised their awareness, stimulated their reflection/sharing of ideas and were encouraged to debate about the problem of gender inequalities, discrimination, mobbing, third gender, LGBTQ+ - encourage partcipants to conduct behavioural changes towards gender equality by implementing 3 concrete actions during the week of activities related to ensuring non-discrimination-based community
