By implementing the "Don't Look Up" project, we have taken the first and important step on the long path to expanding our awareness of the need to protect the natural environment and promote ecological attitudes. The "Don't Look Up" project responded to the need to sensitize us (project participants and our organizations) to issues related to environmental protection, develop pro-ecological attitudes, and learn how to effectively make efforts to convince as many people as possible. (especially young people) that we must not "take our eyes off" such an important issue as environmental protection. We managed to implement the project in a beautiful natural setting, in close proximity to the Gorce National Park. In this way, each day of the youth exchange, we "absorbed" nature (sights, smells, sounds) in its original form, untouched by humans. This treatment helped us develop awareness of how important the natural environment and contact with it are for every person. Participation in the "Don't Look Up" project activated our organizations and people participating in youth exchange to "take matters into their own hands" in the field of environmental protection and present pro-ecological attitudes. By implementing the project, we set a good example (especially to our peers), we felt that we had the power to act for environmental protection, we changed our attitude from passive to active in taking actions for environmental protection. The main goals of the project that we managed to achieve include: a) creating a project space in which we expanded awareness of issues related to environmental protection, developing pro-ecological attitudes, acquiring knowledge and experience on how to protect the natural environment , confronting various ways of perceiving issues related to environmental protection among 4 groups from different countries, b) experiencing the beauty of the natural environment in its original form, not marked by human interference, and thus acquiring motivation to show concern for the natural environment and take activities for its protection, c) learning how to move from theory to practice in presenting pro-ecological attitudes, as well as taking real actions to protect the environment and promoting this type of behavior among young people, d) learning how to involve the community local activities to protect the natural environment, e) acquiring skills in project management and planning and implementing organizational and logistic matters related to them, f) developing competences related to efficient communication in English, effective cooperation in an international environment, using tools digital for the implementation of the project, g) understanding from your own example how important it is to place yourself at the center of the educational process according to Confucius's saying "Tell me and I will forget, show me and I will remember, let me do it and I will understand" , h) experience of what non-formal education is and how great benefits it can bring to young people in striving for intellectual, emotional and mental development, i) experience of cultural knowledge, j) acquiring attitudes of tolerance and openness to other people, including their differences, k ) equalizing educational opportunities in relation to peers living in large urban centers. To sum up, we managed to achieve all the originally planned goals during the 8 days of the youth exchange. Therefore, we can honestly say that the "Don't Look Up" project was a complete success.
