Objectives

During all activities conducted by the Morze Kultury Foundation, the topic of culture and folklore resonates very strongly and is combined with culture in general, e.g. singing, theater, dance, etc. During previous projects, together with partners and participants, we have often discussed the history and culture of our countries . Unfortunately, although this topic accompanied us during every project, we came to the conclusion that we did not use it to its full potential. Cultural evenings held during projects gained a new life. Together we discussed folk costumes, music, behavior and the history of a given nationality. We wanted to learn as much as possible about the multiculturalism of our participants. We started conducting quizzes and group work on issues previously discussed by participants of a given country. After several projects, we came to the conclusion how limited our knowledge is - especially when it comes to the heritage of other nations. Often, the facts presented by participants during cultural evenings did not stay in our memory for long - primarily due to the limited amount of time devoted to these issues. Therefore, together with our partners, we decided to implement a project on folklore - to deepen knowledge from the source. We wanted to learn about the differences between our cultures and conduct activities during the project based on these differences and the acquired knowledge. Additionally, we jointly agreed that the topic was very interesting and developed a worldview and a sense of unity. That's why we decided to carry out a project on this topic, including a performance for the local community, to educate society about culture in Europe. From the beginning of the preparation of the application, the partners actively participated in the creative process and were strongly associated with the topic of culture during their original activities. Together with our partners and participants, we wanted to delve into this topic and get to know each other about the history of our cultures because for us it was an extremely interesting piece of history that is often forgotten. The goals we wanted to achieve were: • Increasing the awareness of young people participating in the project about the impact of cultural heritage on today • Increasing the level of knowledge about the cultural heritage of other nations (architecture, songs, legends, folk costumes, beliefs, etc.) • Comparison of cultural heritage and folklore in different countries - what is common and what is completely different • Increasing young people's knowledge about the history and culture of our nations • Enabling young people to contact and exchange experiences with people from other countries • Increasing knowledge about the culture of other countries • Development of English language skills • Development of singing skills • Development of dancing skills using folk dance figures • Development of interpersonal and social skills • Development of soft skills • Active participation of young people • Developing the ability to work in a team and work with people • Participants developed their self-confidence and stepped out of their comfort zone • Participants became more tolerant and learned about the specificity of "returning to the roots" of other participants Due to the fact that the youth exchange was international, it allowed us to look at the problem from a broad perspective. Moreover, it allowed us to gain knowledge and look at the problem from the perspective of different nationalities and cultural circles. The "Study of FolkLore" project was a response to the need to popularize knowledge about cultural heritage and cultural history. The idea of creating a project on this topic arose thanks to young people who took the initiative to expand their competences in the field of cultural heritage. We believe that expanding our knowledge in this field allowed us to broaden our worldview and made it easier to understand other people who live in another country and grew up in a different culture. We have noticed that the time we can devote to expanding knowledge in this area on projects related to other issues is insufficient and leaves us unsatisfied. The topic of cultural heritage is so vast, and by being able to dedicate a week of our hard work to it, we were able to deepen it well enough.
