Objectives

These days, in European society we can see that active participation and understanding of meaning European citizenship of young people is not that common as it was before. Young people don’t have right tools or they don’t know methods to get involved into their communities needs, which is why, very often they don’t get into local initiatives. We could also see, that young people don’t have pro-active attitudes, especially when it comes to young people from local and rural areas. There’s many factors of active participation, but all of them includes creativity, which we believe each young person has inside them, supported by motivation and will. By this project, we wanted to encourage young people to active participation, show them new working methods and give them tools, they need. The idea of the project was born during conversations with partners institutions, who realized that level of active participation of young people from rural areas if lower than urban once. Active participation of European youth is mostly limited by old-socio cultural model like focusing to the contribution to the economy and family protection. This model does’t gives enough space to the young people self development, participation of youth is very valued, it should be supported and encouraged them to create new possibilities and opportunities and become active citizens on European and local levels. Partners organization has made a lot of long term research in interest of learning among young people they cooperate, and youth from their local communities (including rural areas), and based on that, together we created project schedule, main goals, new tools, working methods and experience to be shared with project participants. Thanks to the research we could also indicate few reasons of low level active participation of young people from rural areas: -luck of authorized facilitator and youth workers who can carry non-formal education; -low experience nad knowledge of facilitators from partners organization with active participation tools and methods - low experience in the area of working with youth based on non-formal education area; -lower interest of youth from rural areas; - misunderstanding the meaning of citizenship, volunteering, active participation and belonging in the concept of community. - luck of good examples and motivation of active participation on local areas; The project was an answer for these needs, and helped facilitators who works with youth on rural areas from participated countries to gain new knowledge, experience, to learn new, non-formal working methods, active participation and helped them raised their competencies on group management, community building activities which they can use and pass forward on their daily life and further work with youth. During the whole project, we keep promoted active and European citizenship, common understanding aside the group by non formal working methods, using in rural areas, what affected of raising the quality level of youth action taken by facilitator in their local communities or organizations. Thanks to the project, participants understood better, how important their role is in their communities and daily life, by experiencing themselves, self critics, sharing and self assessment, decisions making and adapting, creating new tools based on human and material resources and non -formal learning environment they also meet a lot of people, and created their own network. Now they also have possibilities to use these tools and methods in their work with young people, share good practices and encourage them, to become active citizens as well. Main goals of the project was: - Create the space for facilitator to work in cooperative way; - Raising competences and skills of facilitators with non formal education methods in urban and rural areas; - Create possibilities for learning new tools and methods of non formal education, sharing these practice’ - Create possibilities for networking with partners interested in active participation topics; - Experiments with different Group Facilitation Methods and encouraging facilitators to keep raising the quality of training actions by using participatory methods; - Developing abilities for institutional and innovative development of youth management for facilitators in creative ways in non-formal education and motivating them; - Raising facilitators language and self present skills; - Raising communication and team building skills of facilitators; - Breaking their own prejudices and stereotypes; - Understanding of diversity of other cultures and nations, and inside their own communities
