Objectives

This project was designed as a reaction to the record high levels of unemployment of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The aim of the project was to work towards the inclusion of autistic people without learning disabilities in the labour market by recognising their skills, talents and potential, creating awareness of the benefits of working with them and breaking down stereotypes. This project aimed to create more inclusive workspaces and thus a more inclusive society. Because there is a group of people with autism who are at risk of social exclusion despite their special talents and abilities and their ability to add value to society. This is because they have had to struggle all their lives, since the beginning of their education, to adapt to social norms that they do not understand and to live in a world that does not take into account their hypersensitivity to certain sensory stimuli. We intended to endorse the recognition of the competences with tools such as the Youth-Pass and thus promote their better use and targeting in finding a job. The aims of the project were: -To assess the employment situation of autistic people without learning disabilities; -To raise awareness of the benefits of employing (hiring) autistic people without learning disabilities and to break down stereotypes; -To develop a toolkit, a set of recommendations where autistic people are part of the design process, so that companies can create a neurodiversity-friendly work environment; - Build a bridge between companies and people with autism. -Promote the Erasmus+ programme as a tool to empower young people in the labour market.
