The project idea emerged as a follow-up of another project implemented by YoWo Poland in 2021 “Dare to Draw”. In 2020, YoWo Poland implemented a project about graphic facilitation “Dare to Draw”. The project was very well evaluated by its participants and partner organisations. Moreover, when disseminating the project results, we were contacted by other organisations from our networking group in the EU who voiced their interest in developing a similar project with us. Thus, the idea for the project “Mind-Drawing” emerged, i.e. we decided to use the experience we got in “Dare to Draw” and enhance it by adapting the programme and its objectives to the needs of new partner countries, also using insights we had from the previous project. Thus, although we based ourselves on the last project, we had modified its content in order to meet the needs we heard from our new partners and which we also observed ourselves. This project aimed at enhancing competences of youth workers in the field of creativity, graphic facilitation and visual digital tools. Together with our partner organisations, we had realised that graphic facilitation can answer our needs to make youth work more accessible and more attractive for youth we work with on a daily basis. When using graphic facilitation in our work, we observed that it helps us reach youth on many levels, such as making the message we want to transfer more visually appealing and, as a result, more reachable. Moreover, when using visual support, we enhance accessibility of our activities to those who prefer visual messages or those who can base their learning only on the visual input (e.g. youth having linguistic problems, youth with hearing impairments). Thus, we wanted to focus on graphic facilitation (GF) and visual digital tools as a method to make youth work more accessible (regarding youth with different special needs and having various learning styles) and as a method to make youth workers more competent and creative in their work. In order to achieve that, the 9-month project aimed at 21 youth workers to: -develop their theoretical and practical competences in graphic facilitation and digital tools; -discover the power of visual creativity in youth work, both as a method and as a goal in itself; -learn about visual support in the learning process with respect to the topic of accessibility and learning styles; -become more self-confident in GF and creativity. The project outcomes were: -its participants’ competences development in creativity, graphic facilitation, visual thinking, accessibility and diversity awareness - in this way we enhanced competences not only of the individual youth workers, but also the quality of services and activities they do in their local organisations and communities; -a video produced by the participants which used graphic facilitation methods and whose aim was to encourage other youth workers to use GF in daily activities with youth - in this way we spread the idea among other youth workers and promote GF as a tool to enhance accessibility and attractiveness of youth work.
