By implementing the project "Ethnic Archipelagos - Our Europe", we wanted to achieve the goal of giving young people with fewer opportunities, especially those who came from Ukraine, a new perspective on the problems of societies, drawing attention to the rich diversity of Europe, its cultural and historical heritage. The implementation of the project "Ethnic Archipelagos - Our Europe" involved the involvement of 29 young people aged 18 with fewer opportunities to travel (8 trips in 16 months) to places in Europe inhabited by various ethnic groups. Participants are young people from Ukraine living in Poland and volunteers in aid centers for Ukraine. During the implementation of the project, participants learned about the legal and social context of functioning of ethnic minorities, their culture and history. They visited places representative of these groups (museums, regional chambers, cultural institutions) and organizations that represent these groups. The youth visited and researched the following ethnic groups: 1. Frisians – Northern Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands 2.Pomaks – Northern Greece, Northern Macedonia 3.Ladins – South Tyrol, Northern Italy 4. Sorbs - Southeast Germany, 5. Occitan – Southern France 6.Basques – Northern Spain 7. Walloons, Flemings - Belgium 8. Dalmatians - Croatia The objectives defined at the application submission stage have been achieved. During the project, thanks to educational trips, we will show that the problem of national minorities concerns not only migrants, but also indigenous and ethnic minorities. In this way, the project will give young people the opportunity to gain knowledge about Europe, but also to discover the opportunities that Europe offers for their future educational and life choices. The specific goals of the project were defined as follows: - opening new opportunities for young people with fewer opportunities who do not have the opportunity to travel around Europe educationally and develop their own interests, - supporting them in organizing and implementing the trip so that they can start and develop their competences and skills, - enabling project participants from Ukraine to learn about European national minorities and the ways they function in society, so that after the war, in their country, they will be able to build relations with minorities according to European patterns and values, - strengthening and development of the organization The project enabled learning through discovery, as participants acquired the competences and knowledge assumed by the project directly through experience during the trip. Organized activities during the mobilities carried out brought benefits to the participants. There was personal development and an increase in knowledge about European standards, an increase in openness and the acquisition/strengthening of logistic capabilities. There was the development of life skills that will be useful to young people in the future, new experiences in traveling, skills in logistics, and organizing visits to unknown, interesting places. The project had a positive impact on our organization as a whole, beyond the impact on individual participants. Our Eurointegracja Foundation, in accordance with its statute, conducts activities supporting multiculturalism, integration and cooperation between countries and nations of the European Union, and one of the main statutory tasks is to help foreigners adapt to life in Poland and familiarize them with the standards and realities of life in Europe. The project contributed to the implementation of the program's dimensions of inclusion and diversity, ecology, digital transformation and democratic participation. During 8 trips through many European countries, young people gathered experience and educational material, made a comparative analysis of the situation of ethnic groups in different countries and formulated conclusions. The youth applied the principles of "green travel" specified in the project and strengthened their digital competences (applications, instant messengers, social media, Facebook profile "Ethnic Archipelagos", film production). Thanks to participation in the project and travels, traits such as independence, self-confidence, tolerance and openness to other cultures were developed and strengthened. Many young Ukrainians suffer from depression, war trauma and anxiety. Such a journey, with the appropriate support of accompanying people, helped to face the barriers caused by these dysfunctions and overcome them. For 18-year-olds with fewer opportunities participating in the DiscoverEU project, the development of competences and skills was initiated and strengthened.
