The main rationale for UPJPII's participation in the Erasmus+ program is to enable it to support students, academics and administrative staff in improving their competencies and skills and gaining valuable knowledge that they could not acquire while studying or working in the country. The university, by participating in the program, wanted to give its employees and students a chance for professional and personal development abroad as well as to enable its partners from Georgia and Ukraine (and originally Russia) to do the same. For the leader and partners, the Program is a chance to travel, make new friends, learn about culture and traditions in partner countries, practice foreign languages, and establish opportunities for international cooperation. Erasmus+ increases the sense of belonging to Europe, which is extremely important for both UPJPII and Partners from Ukraine and Georgia, which have convergent goals and development strategies aspiring to European values. Another goal was to better prepare for the digital transformation. The use of new technologies and innovative teaching and learning methods contributes to enhancing the universities' international cooperation and innovation capacity.
