The main goal of the project is for students to solve their problems themselves with the power of natural friendship through the peer counseling method. During the project, many responsibilities were given to the student, including managing social media accounts. With the project, we aimed to solve the student problems that we had identified in the partner schools by using the Peer Counseling method, within 15 months, with 12 volunteer students we chose through Sociometry and individual interviews. While the language development, self-confidence, helpfulness, socialization, problem solving and coping skills of our peer counselors who participated in the project increased, school students had the experience of solving problems that seriously affect their lives.
Although the problems we identified in the consortium schools were the same every year, we were having difficulty finding solutions. Traditional methods are not sufficient to solve these problems. We started looking for innovative solutions to these problems we identified. We decided that we could solve these problems with the peer counseling method. We applied a program screening inventory to 750 students in the consortium schools and tried to examine the 5 most marked items. In addition, we aimed to reduce early school leaving. After the project, we re-administered the 50-question problem screening inventory to 750 students. The decrease rates in students' problems are given below. 1- A lot of time with technology -48% -41.7% --- Reduction Rate 13.12% 2- Bullying -44% - 27.9% --- Reduction Rate 36.59.% 3- Business concern -43,2% - 38 % --- Reduction Rate 35.34% 4- Can't control anger-41% - 30.8%--- Reduction Rate 24.87% 5- Low self-perception -39% 25.4% --- Reduction Rate 34.87% The average of early school leaving was between 7% in our high school and between 5% and 11% in our consortium schools. After the project the average of early school leaving is %4.
