Since the main theme of the project was climate change, one of our main goals was to increase pupils' awareness to nature and our influence on it. We were focusing on allowing students to learn about climate change through different outdoor and indoor activities. By enabling students to talk and cooperate with their friends from abroad, we were trying to improve their English language skills, but also social and personal skills or students' motivation. One of our main aims was also to teach students the principles and the culture of outdoor education and familiarise them with teaching / learning methods related to nature. Apart from the above we were also aiming at improving students' critical thinking skills.
In todays world the need to spread knowledge on climate change and dangers connected with it is more than obvious. In order to respond to that need the idea of the project arose. Together with our partners we found it crucial to pass ecological awareness to our students but felt it only to be right to do so with the use of Real Life Assignment method. We believe that on-hand approach is so far the best teaching/learning method. We also are aware of the costant need of young people to beleong to a group of peers. As teachers we pay particular attention to the fact that peers' relations and communication on international level are conducted in good and communicative English. Needless to say, by implementing the project we were answering also the need of young people to communicate, improve English speaking skills and last but not least learning about new cultures and youngsters of differnet nationalities.
