Climate Action Superheroes was a project on the theme of climate change reflected and developed by three schools. Our schools had common points: - strong desire to advance participants through a pedagogy of projects in basic learning, - setting up an atmosphere to motivate and inspire students to become leaders to take everyday actions for climate change, - dissemination of the habits and actions for taking care of our planet for future generations, - experience the staff in European projects. The participants acted as superheroes to learn more and act when it comes to recycling, saving water and gardening at school playgrounds. They and the school community learned by doing, not just studying the possible solutions theoretically. The project promoted creativity and innovations in teaching and learning with ICT tools with the purpose of increasing motivation. Building up logical thinking abilities is necessary in math and science but also it simplified functioning in society nowadays. It helped extend Key Competences and social skills like teamwork.
We believed that participants can make an impact on climate with just small changes in their lives. We wanted to encourage our students to take action and be responsible. We aimed to educate and engage our participants on climate action. We identified commonalities between school priorities. We saw an absolute necessity to collaborate on Climate Change. In each school we observed how important it is to educate on this issue. We concluded that there was a need for having such a project in our schools to raise awareness, better understand and act on key issues such as: -world water deficit -recycling and zero waste -school green gardens and a healthy diet. We were convinced that this experience could be an enriching source of inspiration for the project and solid ground to work on. We wanted to push the curriculum forward and take action in our schools hand in hand with municipalities or local authorities. Young people, students and teachers were the keystones for changing our daily life consuming habits in order to protect our world.
