Objectives

We wanted to make our students understand the interdependence between different ecosystems and human impact on wildlife. We wanted to develop students' skills and competence highly valued on the job market such as: critical thinking, speaking their mind, team working ability. We also wanted to promote a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning foreign languages such as English and Spanish. We wanted our students to improve their command and fluency of English (the language of the project) through taking part in international activities and interacting with their peers from Greece, Italy and Spain during one-week meetings in these countries. We wanted the teachers to enrich their teacher's skills and tools . We wanted the school to improve the teaching standards and its standing on the education market.

Background

We wanted to design and create a green schoolyard in the school area in accordance with permaculture principles, take part in "zero waste" classes and activities, learn more on recycling, share and use experience of our project partners so that we could shape the civic attitude of our students towards ecology and encourage them to participate in environmental actions beneficial for the local community. The project suited our needs to encrich our formal education with innovative formats and methods. Simultaneously the project complied with the core curriculum of the Polish Ministry of Education on education for sustainable development. We wanted to deal with this issue (human impact on climate change) in an attractive and innovative way for both students and local community and start the process of concrete stripping in our area. We also wanted to gain reliable foreign partners to share experience and cooperate.
