Objectives

The main objectives of the project were: to mobilize youth through education to advocate for sustainable food system transition and to share, collate, and disseminate further the best practices on climate advocacy training between the project partners and stakeholders. The project identified parallel objectives at 3 levels: organizational level, beneficiary level, and system level. 1. Organisational level - build the capacity of partner NGOs; - Strengthening youth advocacy and engagement in watchdog activities for food transition as a crucial part of the overall climate transition; - Establishing international cooperation and participation of project NGOs in activities for climate-oriented youth; - Developing international relationships between small-scale NGOs and their stakeholders to increase their participation in climate action and involvement in watchdog activities and initiatives at the international level; - Building the capacity of NGOs to contribute by taking initiatives linked to bigger climate action and just food system transition goals; - Supporting ambitious youth climate initiatives and advocacy efforts with their participation in the public decision-making processes.

Background

The project addressed the need to build and strengthen the social participation and involvement of young people in systemic actions for the climate. Systemic activism and advocacy activism require specific competencies, knowledge, and skills. Within the framework of the project, we were strengthening the competencies of young people in the area of equitable transformation of the food system as an integral part of the climate transition, and advocacy and watchdog activities implemented at the European level. By working with a partner organization, we could show the global dimension of climate action, the need to build cooperation and partnership at the European level, show how EU institutions, the European Commission, and the European Parliament work. Building a green European civil society requires strengthening knowledge of climate policies, the European Green Deal, the Farm 2 Fork strategy, and skills in advocacy and outreach to decision-makers. There will be no green, just climate transition, no food system and no green, democratic Europe without a strong youth voice and involvement.
