Objectives

Through the implementation of project activities, organisations and their members had the opportunity to exchange their experiences and good practices in working with clients/patients, and to take away and implement the Open Dialogue Approach into their practice (for which from now on we will use the acronym ODA - Open Dialogue Approach - in the remainder of this report). The main objective was to introduce the Open Dialogue Approach to the Polish reality in the area of work with young patients, who are often deprived of the right to their own opinion and influence on the treatment process, which results in their reduced motivation and involvement in the healing process. In addition, we also wanted to achieve and/or increase the experience of the partner organisations' staff in implementing educational activities and projects on a local and international level, and consequently - increase staff's motivation and improve professional and personal relations in the teams of the partner organisations, as well as a broadening of the offer and an increase in the organisation's recognition and prestige on the "local ground" (both in Poland and Finland).

Background

The 'Let's Talk' project was born out of the need to exchange experiences and good practices between the AD REM Association and the Keropudas Hospital of Finland. The project activities were aimed at trainers, therapists, psychologists etc. working with young people in mental crisis. Members of the AD REM Association, from the ground up and in the conditions where the Open Dialogue approach of working with patients facing mental health crisis was born, wanted to get to know and train members of the organisation working directly in the entities run by the organisation - the Awake Tomorrow Community Psychological and Psychotherapeutic Care Centre in Zgierz and the sociotherapy day centre. Organisation from Finland had the opportunity to learn about the working methods of the AD REM Association, i.e. cooperation with the children's and adolescents' wards of the psychiatric hospital in Łódź, climbing classes organised as part of the author's W Droga na Szczyt (On the Way to the Peak) programme, classes and the philosophy of conducting extracurricular activities for children and adolescents in the form of a sociotherapeutic day centre, or psychotherapeutic and therapeutic interventions and many other.
