By implementing the project, we aimed to support the integration of Inclusive Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (II&SE) into university curricula. Our objective was to establish a strong foundation for the design and delivery of II&SE education, equipping higher education institutions with the necessary tools and frameworks. Through targeted training sessions, we sought to build the capacity of academic staff to effectively teach II&SE concepts and methodologies. Additionally, we aimed to raise awareness among key stakeholders about the vital role HEIs play in fostering socially inclusive and innovative approaches to societal challenges.
We applied for this project to address the urgent need to embed inclusive innovation and social entrepreneurship (II&SE) into higher education curricula. While innovation remains a key pillar of the EU’s strategy for smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth (Europe 2020), we recognized a gap in how higher education institutions integrate II&SE into teaching and learning. Universities play a central role in the knowledge triangle—education, research, and innovation—but often lack the tools and frameworks to promote socially inclusive approaches. Our project aimed to build institutional capacity to mainstream II&SE, empowering universities to better prepare students as changemakers who can contribute to addressing societal challenges. By strengthening the role of higher education in driving inclusive innovation, we supported both academic and societal transformation.
