The project aimed to create a freely accessible, high-quality learning resource that equips professionals from diverse backgrounds with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to meet current and future challenges in spatial audio creation. Traditional educational programs typically focus on conventional audio formats and do not cover the emerging techniques, workflows, or creative possibilities offered by 3D audio. The project targeted sound engineers, sound designers, composers, musicians, game programmers, music producers, and filmmakers, providing them with a structured pathway to acquire both theoretical understanding and practical competencies. By achieving this, the project sought to widen career opportunities, enable innovative audio content creation, and strengthen the professional community across Europe while supporting lifelong learning and digital readiness in vocational education and training.
The project was initiated to address a significant gap in education and professional development in the emerging field of spatial (3D) audio. At the time, knowledge in this area was fragmented and scattered across various online sources, making it difficult for professionals, students, and educators to gain a structured and comprehensive understanding. We applied for this project to create a high-quality, accessible, and practical training resource that would provide both theoretical foundations and hands-on experience. The needs we aimed to address included the lack of consolidated educational materials, the absence of effective digital learning tools in acoustics, and the growing demand for immersive audio skills in the labour market. Additionally, there was a strong need to support vocational training, higher education institutions, and industry professionals with a flexible and engaging course that could be integrated into hybrid learning models. By targeting these needs, the project sought to widen career opportunities, foster innovation, and strengthen the digital readiness and inclusivity of learners across Europe.
