The primary goal of this project was to address the challenges faced by young people at risk of social exclusion by fostering creativity, inclusion, and skill development through artistic and digital means. Artistic and digital skills were developed for young people at risk of social exclusion through the MOVE&ACT Training Program (WP2). The focus was placed on the Visual Arts field, while digital competencies were strengthened using innovative technologies such as 3D design, printing, and scanning. These skills were intended to support creative expression and enhance future employability. A youth network was created via the MOVE&ACT Digital Hub (WP3). Within this digital community, entrepreneurial tools were provided, self-esteem and a sense of belonging were encouraged, and a shared interest in visual arts was nurtured. Participants were empowered with an inclusive and entrepreneurial outlook. An opportunity was given to youth at risk of social exclusion to voice their personal and community challenges through the MOVE&ACT Online PhotoVoice Contest and Exhibition (WP4). Their stories and perspectives were shared with the public, increasing awareness of their lived experiences.
We applied for the MOVE&ACT project because we clearly recognized the urgent needs that emerged among young people during the pandemic—especially their need for connection, creative expression, and professional development. The social distancing and isolation measures highlighted how essential it is for youth to stay engaged, not only socially but also emotionally and professionally. Many turned to digital technologies and the arts as a vital means of expression and connection with the outside world. Beyond emotional well-being, we also identified the precarious situation of many young people who depend on the cultural and creative industries for their livelihoods. The economic impact of the pandemic intensified their vulnerabilities, underlining the need for entrepreneurial support and skill development in the cultural sector. MOVE&ACT addressed these needs directly by acting as a creativity booster, helping young people reconnect, develop innovative digital and artistic skills, and cultivate a positive mindset. Through this project, we aimed to empower youth, enhance their employability, and support their mental health.
