Objectives

By implementing the project we intended to promote awareness among students and the school community of the Erasmus+ program, its purposes and principles; Discover new realities, cultures and projects within the scope of climate action and protection of natural resources; Learn about sustainable projects and actions developed by other schools and countries; Development of transversal skills such as communication, critical thinking and initiative; Development of knowledge in English; Awareness that we must all play an active role in the fight for the environment and that this is a concern of the Europe and the World. In terms of objectives, we defined 3 general objectives: to develop skills in environmental education, particularly in what concerns sustainability of natural resources, involving 60 secondary school students; to promote contact with other cultures and develop language skills in 60% of students participating in the project and involve at least 60 students in local actions/projects (school and community) to foster the sustainable use of water.

Background

Our School is a century-old institution that offers a variety of courses with its own curricula-Cursos com Planos- Próprios, with a scientific and technological nature. Our school prioritizes projects that enhance the development of personal social, scientific, technological, and digital skills, promoting comprehensive education, considering the reality of the region and the country. In this context, concern for the environment and sustainability is present in several projects, subjects, courses, and initiatives in the school. The “Share to be fair” Project” emerged from the desire to do more, to learn about other realities, other ways of working on these themes and the desire to provide a first experience of internationalization. Portugal has been experiencing moments of extreme drought, which has alarmed and affected many people throughout the country, and the agricultural/agricultural production, having consequences in terms of increasing the price of consumer goods. With schools playing an essential role in raising awareness of these issues among students, it seems to us that in addition to the syllabus and citizenship programs, it was and is urgent to develop concrete actions and mobilize young people.
