There are four objectives of the project. 1st - Implement the CLIL approach with at least 13 teachers from the Cluster and at various levels of education, also hoping to reach many others who start using the CLIL approach or one of the student-centred methodologies learned in the Courses and Training Sessions. 2nd - Produce and make available more than 200 resources in the CLIL approach, quality resources that can easily be used by colleagues and even edited in order to meet the specificities of each class; 3rd - Improve the quality of student learning, by increasing their involvement either through the pedagogical methodologies/strategies used or because there are more student-centred strategies/methodologies; 4th -Increase students’ skills to integrate them into the job market, working on 21st-century skills and the cognitive skills mentioned above.

Background

AEMaia is a Cluster of Schools formed in 2012. It integrates 4 Schools: 2 Kindergartens with Elementary Schools, 1 Comprehensive School with students from the 5th to 9th grade and the Secondary School, with students from the 7th to the 12th grade/VET courses. It has around 2880 children and students, at around 280 teachers, and 80 Technicians or Operational Assistants. Despite investing in innovative projects and dynamics since 2013, there continues to be a lot of resistance to change and school results still do not demonstrate the quality reflected in our Educational Project. It is AEMaia's desire that several classes adopt the CLIL approach as it recognizes a set of added values related to learning content from the most diverse subjects in a second language, such as the methodologies used that are more student-centred and develop cognitive skills (attention, retention, decision-making, problem-solving, metalinguistic awareness, social awareness...) This Cluster started, in recent years, to implement the CLIL approach in as many classes as possible, a project that began in 2019 with a small group of teachers.
