Objectives

With this project, the AEMM intended, through attendance of structured courses, to meet its needs, based on a concrete diagnosis carried out before the application: updating and deepening the digital skills of its teachers; promoting environmental awareness and the sustainability of the planet; improving the application of the principles of the Flexible Curriculum Management and Inclusive Education in the classroom. The first objective, linked to the global digital literacy indicator, aimed to increase, to more than 50%, the number of teachers at medium-high and/or high competence levels compared to 25% in the previous assessment. The second objective - promoting environmental awareness and sustainability - intended to enhance actions at AEMM leading to a reduction in water waste by 40%; in consumption of plasticized products by 50%; and in the weight of common waste by 40%; promote the use of individual transport by 50% and the increase in the use of alternative transport (bicycle) by 30%. With the last objective - improving Inclusive Education at AEMM - the aim was to improve school results in more than 60% of the 107 students flagged with learning disabilities.

Background

AEMM harmonizes the national curriculum, from pre-school to the 3rd cycle, with local curricular decisions, the process of which is dynamic, flexible, and shared with various educational agents. It aims to ensure the essential learnings in each subject and the values and skills defined in the Perfil dos Alunos (Student Profile): Family Support Activities (pre-school); school offer in the 1st CEB - English; programming and robotics and experimental science teaching -; artistic education in the 3rd CEB - Arts in music and Body and Artistic Expression -; cross-curricular activities - Youth Parliament, Eco-Schools, Penfriends, Live Science Club, School Sports, school newspaper, and radio; Special Education - Structured Teaching, Autism and Cerebral Palsy Rooms; support spaces for dyslexia, attention deficit and hyperactivity; Psychology and Orientation Services - Dialogue with/between parents; vocational guidance; psychopedagogical therapies. Taking into account the lack of digital literacy of many teachers, the need to reduce the ecological footprint and provide better support for students with learning difficulties, this project was created as a way of seeking to improve these crucial aspects for the evolution of the school cluster.
