Objectives

The main objectives were to enhance students' essential and transversal skills, particularly in languages and digital competencies, and to promote inclusion and equity among students. Although the TGPSI students possess a high level of digital skills, exposure to different realities will consolidate and diversify their knowledge in artificial intelligence, robotics, and big data analysis, which are essential for Europe's future. Mastering another language is also a priority, enabling students to become 21st-century citizens. The internship report will include a summary of activities in two languages. The project aims to develop specific skills aligned with the needs of the European labour market, providing students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, with learning opportunities abroad and cultural enrichment. The project also focuses on developing future-oriented skills such as creativity, communication, collaboration, personal and social responsibility, and critical thinking. Mobility will facilitate the acquisition of these competencies. Finally, the project promotes the values of inclusion, diversity, tolerance, and democratic participation.

Background

The project is set within the context of Escola Secundária Filipa de Vilhena, a school with 35 years of experience in vocational education in Porto. Its origins date back to 1898, when a preparatory course for entry into the Industrial and Commercial Institute was established. Over the years, the school has undergone various name changes and adaptations, reflecting the educational and social changes in the country. Originally focused on vocational education, the school has maintained a regular training offer in this area since 1991. Currently, Escola Secundária Filipa de Vilhena is a public school that offers a wide range of curricula in Basic and Secondary Education, as well as in Vocational Education and Training (VET). The institution stands out for offering the course of Technician in Management and Programming of Computer Systems within Vocational Education, having obtained EQAVET quality certification in October 2023. The students attending the school are between 12 and 18 years old, providing them with a diverse education tailored to the needs of the job market. The vocational education students are mostly from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and at risk of social exclusion.
