Objectives

The CEFAE/EPFA aimed to provide participants with a wide range of skills in order to develop their potential as active citizens and professionals. The project intended for the participants and the school community in general to have contact with the real job market in a European context, improve their technical skills, learn in an autonomous and continuous way, promote initiative spirit, autonomy, organization, solidarity and responsibility, as well as learning/improving foreign languages. Getting to know a new culture, customs, traditions were also objectives to achieve, a situation that would be unthinkable for almost all participants, and they promoted Portuguese culture in the places and among the people they visited. Participants acquired a wide range of skills that could contribute to increasing employability, competitiveness, and European growth. The school, as an institution, also benefited, as through contact with European entities it is able to improve the qualifications of its workforce to meet the demands of the world of work and globalization.

Background

With the dynamization of this project under the theme "Improving skills in the European job market", CEFAE/EPFA aimed to provide its participants with an experience in the European job market, in order to contribute to an internship period, during which they developed professional activities to improve their technical, relational, and organizational, as well as personal skills. Empowering students to participate and intervene assertively, fostering their active participation as informed, responsible, and participative citizens are fundamental values of the school, alongside promoting qualification through dual certification training, which opened horizons for participants, the school community, and the surrounding community by enabling the exchange of experiences, methods, work tools, internationalizing the school, promoting cohesion and territorial development. Living in the region of Baixo Alentejo, one of the poorest regions in the European Union, where there is a lack of companies and low population density, by participating in this project we sought to bring forth innovative projects involving the entire community in a European project.
