Objectives

- Improve the employability of our students, regardless of their area of training. - To raise awareness among students of the importance of lifelong learning, in order to face an increasingly demanding, competitive and broad labour market on a European/global scale. - Acquisition of language skills, namely English. Our students find it very difficult to communicate in a foreign language. For this reason, an internship abroad will be the best way to overcome this obstacle. - Sensitization of participants to the understanding of interculturality. Our students are always afraid to leave the island, to travel abroad. Over the years, the school has made a great effort to combat this resistance and we have encouraged our students to participate in this type of project. - Improve learning performance, namely through the acquisition of skills in technical areas. At the end of the course, it is important that our trainees have had at least one internship period in a company, abroad, as a way of improving and acquiring new skills. - Increase the number of partnerships for the development of future projects.

Background

Our school, due to the fact that it is located in an Insular region, has invested a lot in its internationalization. We are fully aware of the importance of strengthening the European dimension in Education and the advantages arising from cooperation and the sharing of pedagogical experiences and, for this reason, since 2001 we have been promoting projects at European level. Also, in this sense, it should be noted that our School has been a member, since 2005, of the AEHT – European Association of Hospitality and Tourism Schools. On the other hand, we intend to establish more collaborative partnerships with different schools in different countries. With this project we intend to respond to the challenges/needs mentioned below, which are in line with the objectives defined in our School Educational Project and, simultaneously, with the principles and criteria defined in the European Quality Charter for Mobility. In our School Educational Project, the challenges and needs of our School are well identified, being defined in terms of central objectives: - O.C.-3- Improve the overall performance of students; - O.C.-4 - Increase the level of competence in foreign languages; - O.C-5- Improve the professional integration of students.
